International Cooperation in Security Research

International cooperation is a key factor in the further development of security research in the Czech Republic. It enables knowledge sharing, access to new technologies, and participation in prestigious international research projects. Through the development of international cooperation, Czech research organizations are gaining broader opportunities to participate in global research initiatives and contribute to strengthening security and technological advancement.

The most significant European research and innovation program is Horizon Europe, implemented by the European Commission. This program provides extensive opportunities for funding international research projects and supports cooperation among research institutions, businesses, and the public sector across Europe. It facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in the implementation of EU policies while addressing global challenges. The program supports the creation and wider dissemination of excellent knowledge and technologies.

Direct Support for Cooperation

Direct support for international cooperation is provided primarily through security research programs, including the IMPAKT 1 and IMPAKT 2 programs. These programs enable the financing of various forms of internationalization activities.

Support is focused mainly on:

building international partnerships,
preparing joint research projects,
carrying out preparatory activities prior to project submissions,
supporting networking projects aimed at establishing contacts and developing cooperation.

Indirect Support Instruments

In addition to direct financial support, the Ministry of the Interior also uses indirect instruments to strengthen the internationalization of security research. These activities focus primarily on developing relationships between Czech and foreign research communities.

In this area, the Ministry of the Interior:

organizes and supports activities aimed at developing international contacts,
provides information support to research organizations,
serves as a central contact point for entities involved in international cooperation.

Through the combination of direct and indirect support instruments, international cooperation among Czech institutions in the field of security research is gradually being strengthened, enabling their more active participation in European and global research initiatives.
